UI/UX design

Interfaces that are a pleasure to use

We study how people use your product, then design clear flows and polished screens that reduce friction and lift conversions.

What is the difference between UI and UX?

UX (user experience) is how a product works and feels across the whole journey: the flow, structure and ease of reaching a goal. UI (user interface) is how it looks: layouts, colours, type and controls. Good products need both.

Understanding ui/ux design

Why UX design pays for itself

Confusing interfaces cost money: users abandon forms, support tickets pile up and sales are lost. UX design reduces that friction by understanding what people are trying to do and removing the obstacles. Small improvements to a checkout, onboarding flow or dashboard can have a large effect on results.

UI design makes the product clear and pleasant: layout, hierarchy, colour, type, spacing and interaction details that guide attention and build trust.

Research, structure and testing

We begin by learning who the users are and what they need, using interviews, analytics, support questions and competitor review. We then organise content and flows, sketch wireframes and build clickable prototypes that can be tested before a line of code is written.

Testing with real users shows where people hesitate or misunderstand, so we fix problems when they are cheap to change.

Design systems and developer handoff

A design system is a shared library of components and rules, so screens stay consistent and teams build faster. We create one sized to your product and hand it to developers with specifications, states and assets.

We can stay involved during development to review builds, which keeps the final product faithful to the design.

How we deliver

How we take care of your project

Every project has two phases: first we define the work together, then we deliver it in short loops until it is finished.

Phase ADefine
  1. A1

    Research

    • Interview users and review analytics
    • Study support questions and competitors
    • Identify the biggest friction points
    Deliverable: research findings
  2. A2

    Structure and flows

    • Define information architecture
    • Map key journeys and states
    • Sketch wireframes
    Deliverable: flows and wireframes
  3. A3

    Plan the design work

    • Prioritise flows by impact
    • Agree testing approach
    • Confirm timeline and cost
    Deliverable: design plan
Phase BDeliver
B1B2B3B4B5Repeat until finishedin short cycles
  1. B1
    Design

We create visual designs and a component library.

  2. B2
    Prototype

We build clickable prototypes of the key journeys.

  3. B3
    Test

We test with real users and note where they hesitate.

  4. B4
    Refine

    We fix what testing revealed.

  5. B5
    Hand off

We deliver specs and support developers during the build.

Why it works

Design driven by evidence

We test ideas with real users before they are expensive to change.

Research first

Interviews, analytics and competitor review to understand needs.

Clear flows

Journeys simplified so users reach their goal in fewer steps.

Consistent visuals

A design system keeps every screen cohesive and quicker to build.

Illustrative scenario

a sign-up flow

A software company sees many people start but not finish registration.

This is an example to show how we work, not a client story.

  1. 1

We analyse where users drop off and interview several who left.

  2. 2

We simplify the form, add progress indicators and clearer help.

  3. 3

We prototype and test the new flow with real users.

  4. 4

After release we measure completion and iterate.

Avoid

Common mistakes and how to avoid them

Learn from what we see most often.

01

Designing from opinions

Validate with users and data before committing.

02

Hiding key actions

Make the main action obvious on every screen.

03

Ignoring accessibility

Contrast, labels and keyboard use matter to everyone.

04

Skipping error and empty states

These moments decide whether users trust the product.

Cost

What affects the cost

Every project is quoted individually. These are the main factors.

Factor

Research scope

What it means

Interviews and usability testing add insight and time.

Factor

Number of screens and flows

What it means

Complex products need more design and testing.

Factor

Platforms

What it means

Web, iOS and Android each have conventions to respect.

Factor

Design system size

What it means

A small component set is faster than a full library with documentation.

Factor

Prototype fidelity

What it means

Detailed interactive prototypes take longer than basic wireframes.

Glossary

Key terms explained

Plain-language definitions of terms you will meet on this kind of project.

Wireframe
A simple layout sketch showing structure and flow without visual styling.
Prototype
A clickable model of a product used to test ideas before development.
Information architecture
How content and features are organised and labelled.
WCAG
The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, a standard for accessible digital products.
